The tractor pull that takes place at the annual Shawano County Fair is held as a way to show the area's agricultural history and to give residents a chance to secure bragging rights about their used farm equipment, according to the Shawano Leader.
Dennis Ladwig, a six-time participant in the event, noted that the field has grown and the event has become more competitive.
The first year I pulled, I took third," noted Ladwig. "And ever since then I thought I knew what I was doing and I keep getting worse."
Ladwig has returned to the event every year as a way to showcase the ability of his vintage John Deere tractor, as he is anticipating a solid finish at this year's event due to the work that he has put into his vehicle, according to the Leader.
The Shawano County Fair is held each year as a way for area residents to celebrate the agricultural history of the region and to enjoy the local food and fare that are available at each of the events, including the tractor pull, according to the event website.
