When Glenn and Cindy Schroepfer first exchanged glances across a crowded room, they had no idea that three years later, a used John Deere tractor and a wedding would be part of their lives, according to the Sleepy Eye Herald Dispatch.
The news source reported that the tractor was purchased by Glenn's father in 1969, and after his death, the used John Deere model 2520 was one of the family's lasting memories of the man.
Several years after the tractor was restored, Glenn met Cindy and much to her surprise, and also pleasure, he proposed to her.
"I thought she was someone special," Glenn told the Dispatch.
It was at the wedding when Cindy was first introduced to the tractor, as the happy young couple sat atop the used farm equipment as they said their vows. Despite his initial fears about using the tractor in the ceremony, Glenn was pleasantly surprised to see her reaction.
"When she opened the door and saw the tractor she had tears in her eyes,"?Glenn told the news source.
The John Deere 2520 tractor was built at the Waterloo, Iowa plant and came with a standard 54-horsepower engine, according to Tractor Data.
