Thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen from two locations in Shelby, North Carolina, according to the Shelby Star.
The police were able to value the missing items, not including the farm equipment, at more than $900, the news source reported.
A John Deere lawnmower and weed trimmer were among the stolen items, as the thief was able to break into the outbuilding at the middle school and steal the agricultural items. Three gas tanks were also taken during the raid of the premises, reported the Star.
The separate incident at the cemetery was reported a day earlier than the middle school theft, as two weed trimmers, gas tanks and a leaf blower were taken from the lone building on the premises. These items were valued at more than $1,700 by the local police, according to the news source.
A variety of institutions use John Deere products, new or antique, to service the many lawncare needs that exist. New models of tractors and personal mowers are available in a variety of different functions and sizes, the company website reported.
