"It was amazement," Rhonda Mellott said of her teen daughter Martina's expression when she was shown her ride to the high school prom, reported PublicOpinionOnline.
The Mellotts, owners of a dairy farm in the Mercersburg, Pennsylvania area, have a long history of working with the local agricultural equipment dealer who supplied the prom-ride vehicle in question, a 8285R Deere tractor, stated the news source.
Rhonda Mellott told the media outlet that "It [the tractor] had never been run," Rhonda said. "Ross was very gracious. We had done business with him for many years. My father-in-law had done business with him for many years." Mellott's husband drove the piece of machinery from the dealer in Mercersburg to a truck stop early on a Saturday. Their daughter - who had wished for such a ride - and her prom date first set eyes on it that evening and maneuvered it down a state road to the prom site.
The 8285R Tractor, part of the 2011 8R/8RT series, comes with Independent-Link Suspension and ActiveCommand steering - which makes controlling the vehicle easier and reduces driver fatigue.
