For the 2011 growing season, John Deere is introducing two new digital ways for consumers to interface with agricultural machinery.
First, John Deere has released its first app - Mower Match - for the iPad, which is now available for free download at the iTunes App Store. This digital tool presents detailed info on tractors and zero-turn EZtrak mowers for home lawn use. This multi-faceted, interactive and virtual product pamphlet offers video content, all-angle views of agricultural equipment as well as a listing of features that make John Deere equipment unique.
There is also a new section on the John Deere website - the Gator XUV Configurator - that allows online visitors to customize a Gator utility vehicle to their own specifications. This online feature lets them choose everything from the tire treads to the vehicle's frame, all in a matter of a few clicks. A user's experience is further enhanced by their choice of screen background - either a river, meadow, rocks or a trail - behind the Gator.
Customized utility vehicles that are designed online can then be sent to a John Deere dealer for a price estimate, and the design can be shared through social media.
