The value of farm equipment, such as used John Deere tractors, is often likely to provoke thieves to try and steal these machines. While this highlights the quality and popularity of these models, it also shows that owners should keep an eye on their favorite vehicles.
According to Michigan Live, the local police department in Lawrence Township, Michigan, is investigating the theft of a John Deere tractor and a trailer that was attached to the farm equipment.
"A 1978 John Deere 2440 farm tractor and a blue, 18-foot-long flat-bottom trailer were stolen from a field in the 56000 block of 48th Avenue. The items belonged to Meachum Farms in Hartford," the police said in a statement.
This same type of incident occurred in southern Illinois, but the stolen John Deere lawn mower was returned to the police after a notice was put out, according to The Southern Illinoisan.
The John Deere mower was found after an extensive search was conducted following the theft, and this type of effort is often put in by the owner and local police due to the value of the property.
