A new report featuring data from the Equipment Data Associates shows that sewer and water contractors have preferred John Deere equipment while on the job over the past five years. Specifically, the John Deere 310K backhoe has been the most popular new model sold during this time period.
The John Deere 310J backhoe, the model that was released before the 310K, ranked third on the list of top financed models. The 410K was fifth in terms of financed equipment, and the 310SK was tenth.
John Deere announced its new K-Series backhoe loaders in March 2012, which followed up the J-Series. This line included the 310K and 310SK models.
“Our customers are a diverse group that use backhoe loaders and tractor loaders for a variety of applications on the jobsite,” said Louann Hausner, product marketing manager for backhoe loaders, at the time of the announcement. “The new K-Series provides North American contractors a variety of options that are powerful, versatile, productive and economical. John Deere is committed to matching the right machine to the right customer.”
The K-Series machines are designed to move at top speeds of 25 miles per hour while conforming to current emissions standards. They also have redesigned cabs, geared toward providing more comfort to operators.
According to the EDA report, excavators were the top type of new machinery financed by water and sewer contractors over the past five years. However, backhoes took second place on the list.
