The U.S. Department of State recently backed an initiative that brought four top officials from India's agricultural industry to New York to meet with U.S. counterparts in the Farm Service Agency (FSA). The meetings, called the International Visitor Leadership Program, also featured tours of farms and were hosted by FSA State Executive Director for New York James Barber and upstate New York County Head Thomas Della Rocco.
The FSA officials were taking part in the program to strengthen international connections, tap into new markets and encourage food security. Barber said the visit from India was a chance to put into place and expand a cross-cultural, mutually advantageous relationship with peers in the growing industry.
The Indian guests visited farms, an orchard and a vineyard, took part in a roundtable talk and were given a demonstration of the Geographic Inventory System at the Albany County FSA.
For farmers and ranchers looking to purchase agricultural equipment, John Deere dealers in the United States offer machines like tractors, combine harvesters and Gator utility vehicles to improve production in their businesses.
