Though the whole field is far from set, the 2011 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, recently secured a commitment from two-time major champion John Daly to appear in the golf tournament, Quad-City Times reported.
The 45-year-old golfer and reality TV star - of the Golf Channel show "Being John Daly" - received an exemption to play in Quad Cities from the event's organizers, marking the seventh time he has played the tournament over his career. He will also play two pro-am rounds at the John Deere Classic course, underscoring his continuing popularity. "He is a crowd favorite, there's no denying that," tournament director Clair Peterson told the news source.
Steve Stricker, who has won the last two editions of the tourney, and local boy, Master's winner and John Deere Classic board member Zach Johnson are also virtual locks to appear.
The event has held the John Deere name since 1998 and been held at TPC Deere Run since 2000. The agricultural and golf course equipment-maker, based in the Quad City of Moline, Illinois, is signed on to sponsor till 2016, reported the golf site BunkerShot.
