Used tractors and other pieces of farm equipment may abound on land set aside for agricultural production, which should lead to parents making sure their kids are safe.
Illinois' DeKalb County Farm Bureau is holding a camp that specializes in farm safety. Registration for the camp ends on Friday, June 4, while the event will be held on June 23 in Malta, Illinois.
During the camp, young people will get the chance to learn about being safe when it comes to farm equipment, which could include used tractors. They will also be taught to understand the causes of accidents and how to react to emergency situations.
The camp is intended for children between the ages of 8 and 12, and the cost is $10 per child or $20 for each family.
Recently, a North Dakota elementary school featured a similar program to educate kids in the district about safety on the farm. About 300 students took part in the event, which was held at Burlington Elementary School and featured 11 safety stations.
