The tractor ride event that has been set up for Wyoming County residents will feature a variety of antique and classic farm equipment that will provide visitors with an enchanting ride around Silver Lake in Perry, New York, according to the Wyoming County Daily News.
More than 70 drivers showed up for the first event, held last year, and greater numbers are expected for the 2011 ride. Drivers brought their favorite John Deere tractors along with a variety of older models to the park in 2010, reported the news source.
"It should be really neat I think," Ted VanValkenburg, one of the organizers for the ride, told the Daily News. "It's these old guys relating back to the past and stuff. It's just unbelievable."
The tractor drive was set up as a homage to the events that occur in the American Midwest, as several New York residents who moved from places like Iowa and Wisconsin felt the need to spread their love for antique tractors, according to the news source.
Money from the event will go to help area organizations like the fire department and chamber of commerce, as the agricultural history of the region has long provided local residents with funding for projects, due to the fact that Wyoming County is the number one dairy producing area in the state of New York, reported the town's website.
