American hay producers will now be able to determine the moisture content of the product they are baling on the go, as people who have used John Deere equipment will now have a new option to help with their farming, the Delta Farm Press reported.
According to the news source, the new product can easily be installed on John Deere small square and large round balers.
4-Traders reported that the moisture tester from the agricultural giant has a large, illuminated LCD display and keypad that allow a farmer to work into the night, especially important for getting the most out of a harvest.
"With moisture sensors mounted on the right and left sides of the bale chamber for greater accuracy, the operator can see an updated moisture reading every 3 seconds, right from the tractor seat," Phil Lauer, product manager with John Deere Merchandise, told the news source. "The hay moisture tester takes the guesswork out of determining if the hay is too dry or wet to bale."
According to 4-Traders, the product can also be adjusted between bales to ensure accuracy, as recalibration of the tester is an easy process.
