Although Fond du Lac, Wisconsin residents are used to seeing used John Deere tractors weaving their way through fields all year, they may be exposed to a number of smaller models from the farm equipment company, according to the Fond du Lac Reporter.
John Hounsell, the owner of Hounsell's Country Store in the Forest Mall, noted that a significant number of John Deere model tractors were sold this year during Christmas. Although he owns and operates a separate store that specializes in model farm equipment, both sites saw the small machines flying off of the shelves, the news source reported.
"In Ripon it’s all farm toys, but here (at the mall) we do things differently," Hounsell told the Reporter. He noted that collectors still frequented the store and "buy all the new (models of) tractors as they come out."
The news source reported that he expects more of the same during the course of the year.
According to the Fond du Lac website, the Hounsells Country Store specializes in John Deere toys and other model farm products, as they cater to the local crowds.
