The 7th annual Missouri River Outdoor Exposition is scheduled for the weekend of September 17 and will feature a variety of family fun activities and events that are intended to rekindle local citizens' interest in natural resources and outdoor recreation, according to the Fence Post.
Among the featured events will be kayaking, rock climbing, shooting, archery, camping, fly-fishing and more than 80 other sporting and nature exhibits that were set up to generate interest in the area, reported the news source.
Attractions that are set up for the event include a John Deere Gator Course to test the driving abilities of local residents, along with a splash dogs dock diving competition, according to the Post.
"Dock jumping for dogs is fast becoming one of America's most popular events for pet owners and folks who just like watching these athletic dogs fly through the air," Tony Reed, president and founder of Splash Dogs, told the news source.
The event is organized by more than 900 volunteers who also teach outdoor skills, ethics and safety measures to interested residents, according to the event website.
