The 28th annual Farmfest, a yearly Minnesota agricultural event, will be held August 4-6 on the Gilfillan estate in Redwood County. More than 580 local exhibitors in the farming and agricultural equipment industry will be on hand, along with educational forums, programs and entertainment.

United Pullers of Minnesota, a state organization of National Tractor Pullers Association, is hosting a biodiesel pull-off featuring three-engine modified tractors, heavy super stock tractors, super farm tractors as well as 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive trucks, super stock 4-wheel drive trucks and semis.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said it plans to offer landowners free technical assistance in the latest farm program options and a free aerial photo of their farm.

Hunting and fishing licenses will also be sold on site. Area personalities will participate in a buffalo chip throwing contest.

Prairieland Fly Wheelers hosts an antique tractor exhibit with a large inventory of farm machinery and tractors of every make, model and color.

Farmfest attracts more than 35,000 visitors each year. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 4 and 5 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 6. Admission is $8 for adults and free for anyone 18 or younger.
