John Deere has announced that it will now offer MICHELIN® X® TWEEL® TURF tires for standalone purchase through its dealers. The products were initially launched in 2015, and they are designed to minimize the cost and time operators have to spend on tire repairs.
The MICHELIN X TWEEL TURF tire is an airless radial tire that is virtually maintenance-free. It was initially sold exclusively for the John Deere ZTrak™ 900 Series, which comes with 54, 60 and 72-inch decks. Customers can now purchase the product for existing ZTrak 900 Series models.
"We are overwhelmed by the positive response the MICHELIN X TWEEL TURF Airless Radial Tire has received from the commercial mowing industry since its initial launch," said James Dutton, tactical marketing manager for John Deere. "We are dedicated to providing customers with the innovations they need to limit downtime and focus on growing their businesses. By offering the MICHELIN X TWEEL TURF product for standalone purchase, customers can now add this technology to existing machines in their fleets."
The tire has the same dimensions and bolt pattern as the standard 24x12x12 tire, and it features automotive rubber technology. This means its tread lasts up to three times longer than standard turf tires. Deere and Michelin Tweel Technologies initially unveiled the new technology at the 2014 Green Industry and Equipment Expo in Kentucky.
