According to a recent article, the John Deere Pavilion hosted its annual Learn & Play Day on Saturday July 19th, 2014, providing learning and fun for children and their parents to discover all that Deere & Co. does to help the community.
At this event, children toured John Deere tractors inside the Moline Pavilion and had the chance to use small battery-powered Gators to play around an obstacle course. They were also given time to observe and touch animals at the petting zoo and learn the daily routines involved in farming and construction.
Kristen Veto, a manager at the pavilion, said, “Kids are learning all the different things that John Deere really does for our customers, our construction equipment, our agriculture equipment. They’re getting an educational experience while having fun.”
She explained that educational experience is something that John Deere tries to reinforce whenever possible and the success of this yearly event is only achievable because of the community’s great support.
The event gave kids an opportunity to become more involved in farming activities and better understand how their food gets on the table. With this, children are able to see how John Deere impacts the world.
Attendance at the 7th annual Learn & Play Day on Saturday was higher than previous years. Many partakers were family members of those who work for Deere and appreciate that the company dedicates an event to their children.
Most people don’t fully recognize what impacts agriculture, which is why valuable information is provided throughout the event. As Ron Fischer, the owner of Fischer’s Honey Farm, said, such an event is crucial to community education.
