The town of Maryville, Missouri, has many green and yellow gifts lurking under wrapping paper, as a popular Christmas present in the area is either a John Deere tractor or a model toy of the farm equipment, Maryville Daily Forum.
The news source reported that local dealers have reported increased sales during the winter months, with people preparing for the next harvest, but toy stores have also seen more John Deere products flying off of the shelves around Christmas.
"The color green is like gold, people just love it," Orscheln Farm & Home manager Terry Eighmy told the Forum. "Toys, socks, clothing, they love anything with John Deere on it."
Eighmy noted that many of the purchases are motivated by the memories that many older farmers have of John Deere equipment, and their attempts to involve their children with the brand.
"I am amazed at how people are so nostalgic," noted the manager.
John Deere memorabilia is available through a number of dealers, as antique toys, wooden tractor models and a plethora of clothing and accessories can be purchased, Green Crazy reported.
