John Deere has announced a new sales and marketing agreement with Honda Power Equipment, allowing the world's largest producer of farm machinery to sell Honda products at select dealerships across the country.
Deere will now begin selling certain lines of Honda walk-behind mowers, tillers, generators, water pumps and snow blowers. The company also announced it will no longer produce walk-behind mowers or snow blowers after 2012.
"Honda power equipment has earned a strong reputation for durability, quality and reliability – all which are important attributes to John Deere customers," said David Everitt, president of the Worldwide Agricultural and Turf Division at Deere. "Our John Deere lawn tractors will continue to lead the way, but will be complemented with Honda power equipment products."
John Deere will continue to make its popular riding lawnmowers, such as the new Select Series X700, while selling Honda products.
The John Deere X700 offers a wide range of capabilities, from tilling the garden to mulching with four-wheel drive. With internal hydraulic PTO and a heavy-duty welded frame, the lawn machine enables the operator to cover more grass in less time with the best fuel efficiency possible, according to Deere's website.
