John Deere revealed the MulchControl option on Aug. 28 for its 54-inch and 60-inch high capacity mower decks that fit on all X700 Signature Series models, as well as Z665, Z655 and Z625 EZtrak mowers.

With MulchControl, users can easily switch from mulching to side discharge to bagging by moving a lever. This enhances the efficiency of the machine while preventing clippings from littering driveways, flowerbeds and sidewalks. In the end, there is less clean-up for residential mower operators.

"MulchControl puts the operator in control of the clippings," said Kim Ridel, product marketing manager at John Deere. "Now the operator can have all the benefits of mulching with the ability to easily change to side discharge or bagging as conditions require."

The MulchControl lever is located at the top of the mower deck. This allows the driver to easily engage and disengage the feature in a matter of seconds.

At the moment, the MulchControl option is only available on the X700 Signature Series and Z600 Series EZtrak mowers. However, John Deere has plans to expand this feature to more models in the coming year.

The X700 Signature Series models have 21-inch premium seats for the utmost comfort. They also include 22, 25.5 and 24 horsepower engines, as well as four-wheel steering options. The Z600 Series comes with 24 or 25 horsepower V-twin engines, as well as 21-inch-wide seats.
