To help producers precisely monitor and control the application of liquid fertilizer during the planting process, John Deere has rolled out ExactRate™, a new factory-installed option. With ExactRate, farmers have one less thing to worry about when it comes to nutrient placement.
"ExactRate gives operators row-by-row section control to help reduce fertilizer costs and the amount of chemicals applied by shutting off application in areas of overlap or non-application," Ryan Hough, marketing manager for planting and seeding for John Deere said. "Using ExactRate, customers can follow the 4R Principles of Nutrient Stewardship by applying the right product, at the right rate, at the right time and in the right place."
The 1775NT, 1795, DB60, DB44 and DB66 Planters are just some of the Deere models that ExactRate is compatible with. Because it comes with a hydraulic-driven pump, ExactRate can operate at speeds up to 10 miles per hour, allowing producers to tackle up to 5.9 more acres per hour on the job.
The ExactRate apps are compatible with the John Deere 4640 Universal Display and 4600CommandCenter™, as well. They allow for in-cab flow detection and in-field documentation for operators.
"ExactRate compensates for both commanded rate changes and speed changes. It also provides curve compensation. This helps ensure growers apply the right rates across their fields, including entry and exit of headlands," Hough continued.
The company will begin taking orders for the new ExactRate option beginning in June, and shipments will begin rolling out this fall. More information can be found by visiting JohnDeere.com.
