John Deere recently introduced a new 2016 edition of its Gator, the RSX860i, replacing the previous model RSX850i.
The RSX860i hosts a bevy of updated features, including a new power steering option for operators and backlit toggle switches. The enhancements made to the vehicle were based on customer feedback and market-driven research.
"Every adjustment and addition made to the RSX860i comes as result of our team actively listening to customer feedback," said Mark Davey, John Deere marketing manager of Gator utility vehicles. "Top speed was one of the priorities we considered with these updates and we were able to increase the maximum speed to 60 mph (97 kph)."
The anti-kickback feature of the Electric Power Assist Steering reduces the amount of unwinding steering. This allows operators to seamlessly maneuver the vehicle on uneven terrain. It’s also designed to sense speed and adjust steering according to the environment.
The front differential has a spiral bevel design for reduced noise, and the helical design of the gear set vibrates less for quieter operation. EPAS-equipped Gators are also winch-ready, meaning they come with pre-installed components such as a wiring harness and a negative battery cable.
The Gator RSX680i is now available for order online, and consumers can find it at John Deere dealers by mid-July. It comes with a 12-month or 1,000-hour factory warranty, and consumers can choose between green, yellow or Realtree Hardwoods HD camouflage models.
