John Deere announced new L-Series Wheeled Feller Bunchers and L-Series Skidders on April 1, which are designed to cater to logging professionals who want to boost productivity and lower daily operating costs. Loggers and dealers from around the world gave their input to John Deere to ensure that both series were created to cater to today’s needs.

"Loggers raised the bar, and we listened and responded with machines that work just as hard as they do day in and day out,” said Brandon O'Neal, product marketing manager of John Deere Construction & Forestry.

Features of the L-Series Wheeled Feller Bunchers

The L-Series Wheeled Feller Bunchers are now available in 643L and 843L models. They have optimal weight distribution for climbing hills, as well as six high-intensity halogen lights for working once the sun goes down. The bunchers include more horsepower for additional responsiveness, and a one-button quick dump allows operators to open accumulating and grab arms simultaneously for more productivity.

Highlights of the L-Series Skidders

The L-Series Skidders are available in 640L, 648L, 748L, 848L and 948L models. These machines have large grapples (up to 22.3 square feet), which give loggers more flexibility to configure the skidder to fit their application. They also have a life expectancy of up to 15,000 hours and box-style tongs for maximum strength and harder wear surfaces. Their cabs are 25 percent roomier and 50 percent quieter than previous John Deere models.
