Construction equipment users who are looking for new options when it comes to meeting Environmental Protection Agency Standards might want to consider an offering from John Deere.
The company announced that its Interim Tier 4 PowerTech 9.0-L diesel motor is now available for its 744K loaders. John Deere product marketing manager for construction and forestry Jahmy Hindman said the equipment manufacturer did so in response to requests from customers.
"Our customers wanted a simple solution with one fluid - diesel fuel - and no concerns about storage or temperature," Hindman said.
To achieve the EPA standards, John Deere has employed a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system in the engine, which also features the company's Quad-Cool technologies. The motor also offers a simpler way to perform day-to-day service through ground-level access.
Along with the federal government, many states are instituting their own requirements regarding emissions standards on diesel vehicles. For example, California, which already has some of the most stringent restrictions in the country, is considering further limitations for these motors in an effort to improve air quality.
