In February, John Deere Construction & Forestry entered into a strategic alliance with Topcon Position Systems to form an agreement that would allow the company to sell, support and factory-install Topcon solutions on select John Deere construction equipment, Site Prep Magazine reports.
Fast forward to October, and customers now have to option to purchase John Deere equipment that had Topcon's 3D-MC2 grade control solutions installed into it while still in a John Deere factory. Both John Deere dozers and motor graders have been outfitted with the new technology, which require no additional installation work.
Before the agreement, buyers had to install all equipment after production in a John Deere dealership, the news source stated. The grade control options include single or twin antenna versions and six receiver options.
"The alliance with Topcon will allow our equipment owners to utilize a factory-installed grade control system that maximizes productivity, uptime and lowers daily operating costs on the worksite," said Domenic Ruccolo, senior vice president of sales and marketing for John Deere Construction and Forestry.
Though best known for its agricultural equipment, John Deere has earned a name for itself as one of the top global construction equipment companies. Products include dump trucks, dozers, excavators, skid steers, motor graders and other machines that were developed with Deere's known reliability and durability in mind.
