Christensen Farms found a way to secure a plentiful harvest despite the rains and drought that came this growing season, due to efficient farming, a used John Deere combine and by using a new type of feed, according to the Minnesota Farm Guide.
Though the harvest was sufficient and the bad weather was dealt with through innovative farming techniques and a reliance on technology, the life of a dairy farmer is quite difficult, Jon and Annie Christensen told the news source.
"The dairy farm is always unique," Jon said with a laugh. "There’s never a break. The people in town even tell us they understand that we work and live dairy 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
According to the news source, the cows can be spotted on the property from far away, grazing in the fields right next to the John Deere equipment that provides their food.
Christensen Family Farms is the largest family-owned swine business in Minnesota and is one of the top five pork producers in the U.S., according to the organization's website.
