The John Deere Classic is currently underway at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, where 156 PGA tour players are competing for a total purse of $4.5 million. Coverage of the event began on Thursday, July 7 and will end on Sunday, according to the tournament website.
Players from around the world compete in the event, including Louis Oosthuizen, a passionate fan of John Deere, the company that is hosting the event.
After Louis Ooosthuizen won last year's British Open, the South African golfer noted that he would use the winnings from the tournament to purchase a John Deere tractor, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.
"I want one with enough space for my little daughter Jana to ride beside me," Oosthuizen declared about the 6000 series tractor that he planned to purchase.
The golfer grew up on a farm in South Africa and he noted that his father would do the grueling work on John Deere machinery. Oosthuizen had spent much of his youth on a tractor made by the American company, and he developed a love for the brand due to its reliability, the Post reported.
