To cater to loggers who work in wetland and swamp conditions, John Deere has developed the new 953ML Shovel Logger. With this piece of forestry equipment, customers can outmaneuver muck and reap the benefits of a comfort-boosting operator station.
The 953ML Shovel Logger comes with a 330-horsepower John Deere PowerTech™ 9.0-liter diesel engine, meaning it’s up for all types of challenging conditions. It also has a 36-foot live heel swamp-logger boom, along with 60-inch grapple capacity. Operators have control over the positioning of their logs during timber-handling situations, thanks to the live heel boom.
“We are committed to providing loggers with proven equipment solutions that meet their unique needs, regardless of the job site,” said Jim O’Halloran, product manager John Deere. “The new 953ML expands our portfolio to offer a machine engineered with wetland conditions in mind. Unlike wheeled machines, this purpose-built shovel logger can effortlessly tackle swampy terrain.”
The operator station on the 953ML provides extensive visibility with its floor-to-ceiling front and side windows, along with an overhead skylight. The cab is climate-controlled and has fully adjustable armrests, joystick-mounted buttons, and a standard air-ride seat. The enhanced lighting package includes boom-mounted lights to improve visibility, regardless of the environment.
Finally, customers can leverage JDLink™ to receive real-time machine data and alerts as they work throughout the day. To learn more about the 953ML Shovel Logger, in addition to other forestry equipment, contact your local John Deere dealer.
