John Deere has recently expanded its range of grade control solutions with the launch of SmartGrade™ on the 210G LC and 350G LC Excavators. The 3D SmartGrade system boosts productivity and accuracy for operators who want to get the job done right across a variety of worksites.
Deere will now offer four grade management options for contractors: SmartGrade, SmartGrade-Ready with 2D, 3D Grade Guidance, and 2D Grade Guidance. There will also be upgrade kits available for each management option. With a SmartGrade Excavator, the boom and bucket functions are automated for a smooth, accurate finish grade.
“By incorporating precision technology, such as SmartGrade, on our excavator lineup, we are boosting job site productivity and efficiency while enhancing the capabilities of our operators,” said Justin Steger, solutions marketing manager, John Deere. “However, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, and contractors need options to pair the right technology with their business needs. This is where customers really benefit from the flexibility of our grade management path.”
The SmartGrade-Ready with 2D option offers a 2D system with semiautomated functions. Overall, the ease of use is improved without the need for GNSS technology or 3D design plans. With SmartGrade or SmartGrade-Ready machines, the selectable bucket control feature also automatically maintains the user-defined bucket angle during grading passes. This helps operators place material more effectively and reduces waste. The new precision technology also features Virtual Front, which hydraulically limits and automatically stops the bucket cutting edge from contacting the front of the machine.
