The Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA) honored dozens of residential, commercial and special landscape projects at its annual awards banquet on Friday.
The association recognized landscape design projects in several categories, including residential construction, residential maintenance, commercial maintenance, singular installation and special event.
The 2009 Belgard Chicago Flower & Garden Show, currently running through March 15 at the Chicago Navy Pier, received a gold award in the event category.
The Excellence in Landscape Awards program provides an opportunity for those in the landscape industry to promote public awareness of their role in environmental improvements, the organization said.
Illinois landscape contractors, landscape designers, landscape architects and others working with homeowners and businesses were among those who gathered to view a presentation of the projects receiving awards. The projects were judged anonymously by industry peers from surrounding states.
With more than 800 member companies, the association's mission is to enhance the professionalism and capabilities of members by providing leadership, education and valued services while promoting environmental awareness within the landscape industry, the group said.
