John Deere tractor and implement enthusiasts will have an opportunity to share their love for the brand with others at the 2014 “Gathering of the Green” event, being held at the RiverCenter in Davenport, Iowa, March 19-22.
This year’s show, with the theme “Preserving America’s Heritage,” is sponsored by four John Deere antique tractor clubs (Deer Valley Collectors, Illinois Valley Two-Cylinder Club, North Eastern Illinois Twin-Cylinder Club and Northwest Illinois Deer Collectors) who have come together to provide Deere supporters with an event to share their love for the green and yellow.
The event will feature more than 70 vendors displaying equipment, 60-plus technical and historical workshops with outstanding presenters, a live auction, and evening speakers. The 2014 speaker list is headlined by Charlie Gause, a retired marketing manager for Deere and Company, who will be talking about the development and marketing of the Sound-Gard cab on Generation II John Deere tractors, and Ken Buell, a retired Deere and Company manager, who will offer his perspective on “Life in the Deere Lane.”
According to the event’s site, “The displays for 2104 will mirror the 2014 “Gathering” theme, “Preserving America’s Heritage.” You will view significant tractors from yesteryear as well as interesting implements from the past. Take a tour though a machine shed and see a timeline of JD equipment. Watch for the John Deere silo in the RiverCenter Atrium.”
To cap off the event, a John Deere CX Gator will be raffled at the banquet on Saturday evening. Registration details for the event can be found on the Gathering of the Green website. Fans and loyalists of John Deere tractors and implements have a unique opportunity to gather and share their admiration for the brand at the 2014 Gathering of the Green event.
