An annual charity fundraiser in East Anglia, England, featured a lineup of more than 130 used tractors, as local residents brought their farm equipment to raise money for a group of local organizations, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
The news source reported that the 8th Annual Boxing Day Vintage Tractor Road Run was a success, as more than $2,000 was raised for local charities by the participants. The farmers and tractor enthusiasts who participated noted that the increased attendance shows a new interest in used farm equipment.
"People are getting more interested in vintage tractors, just like they used to with vintage cars, including the people here today," one of the participants told the Daily Press.
The event has nearly quadrupled in size, as only 35 used John Deere tractors were present at the first road run, with a local John Deere club leading the way, according to the news source.
The Cheshire Vintage Tractor and Engine Club meets at a local pub once a month to discuss possible charitable involvement for the many tractor races and events that take place during the year in the UK, according to the organization's website.
