A local group drove an antique 1937 Model B John Deere tractor across Oak Park Mall in Austin, Minnesota, as the collection of individuals and the farm equipment turned heads as part of an advertising scheme, the Austin Daily Herald reported.
The group recently announced that the stunt was part of a marketing ploy for a southern-style barbecue restaurant that will open in December of this year. The owners chose to use the John Deere tractor due to the positive image that it brings to many residents of Austin, according to the news source.
"We really want to come out in style," Bob Nelson, owner of the new Ole Barn BBQ, told the Herald about his desire to wow the local mall visitors. "They’re investing a significant amount of money in this."
Nelson told the news source that the investors were appealing to the farming culture that exists in Austin and the John Deere tractor served as a way for him to pander to this demographic.
The John Deere Model B Tractor was a staple in the agricultural industry for many years, as it was produced for more than 20 years, according to Tractor Data.
