Local governments may invest in farming equipment as a way to perform basic functions in rural areas. Many products are available that can help with agricultural tasks and maintenance, such as the new line of 7R Series Tractors from John Deere, according to the company website.
The Alexis Village board voted unanimously to purchase a new John Deere 6330 tractor to meet the needs of the town, as several farming functions within the Illinois community needed to be addressed, according to the Galesburg Register-Mail.
Grants and loans that were secured through the U.S.D.A. were used to make the purchase, as the state architect approved the expenditure. Financing for the equipment will occur over five years, as the various organizations that are involved will pay in an incremental fashion, the news source reported.
Town Treasurer Ange Corben reported that the town had received another $3,350 from the Illinois Jobs Now program, money that would be used toward the tractor and other necessary purchases that were approved by the Alexis Village Board, according to the Register-Mail.
