A Stoney Creek, New York resident has used John Deere tractors from several eras scattered around his massive garage, as he recently began to hold an antique farm equipment tour at his home in order to show off his collection.
Niagara This Week reported that Joe Carlton and his collection of 28 John Deere tractors are now a mainstay in the local community, as he took part in the fifth annual Golden Horse Antique tour along with dozens of other owners from the area.
"I started collecting tractors because of my grandfather," said Carlton. "I wasn’t involved in big cash farming when I was a kid. My granddad had a small fruit farm. The tractor that he had, a John Deere, was new in 1953. That’s what got me started in all this."
He told the news source that it was part of a "nostalgia thing" and that his love for the tractors was passed down through the generations.
According to Street Articles, the 2011 event featured tractors on both sides of the border, as Southern Ontario and New York residents brought their favorite models.
