John Deere Launches 2013 “Birdies For Charity” Program at John Deere Classic
John Deere has announced the launch of “Birdies For Charity,” a program that has proven success in raising money for charities during the 4-day John Deere Classic PGA Tour event. This is according to a recent article from KWQC.com.
Area charities gather pledges and, during the John Deere Classic, spectators can guess the number of birdies shot during the 4-round event, with an opportunity to win a Chevy Equinox. The article states, in 2012, the “Birdies For Charity” raised $6.7 million. This year will feature an added bonus for participating charities: John Deere will match all donations up to $250,000 made directly by individuals or businesses to the Birdies For Charity Bonus Fund.
According to the article, organizers of the charity show are the event’s real winners. "Every organization gets one check from the pledged Birdies For Charity, which is 100 percent of the pledged dollars. In addition, they get a second check, which is a bonus from the John Deere Classic revenues and revenue from the Birdies For Charity Fund."
John Deere is the official golf equipment sponsor of the PGA Tour and title sponsor of the John Deere Classic, and this program shows their interest in giving back to the community.
